61st Street Farmer's Market Opens

The 61st Street Farmers Market aims to create an oasis in the local ‘food desert’ by providing residents throughout the Woodlawn neighborhood and the neighboring areas with the opportunity to buy fresh, regionally grown farm products that are nutritious and affordable, and that cater to the culinary needs of Southside Chicago’s diverse population. In addition to providing nutritious foods, the ‘Market School’ will provide nutrition education programming for children and adults throughout the summer. We will also offer chef demos on food preparation.

  • Time: Saturdays, May 17-Oct 25, 2008
  • 9am-2pm
  •  Location: 61st Street, between Dorchester and Blackstone Avenues
